Coopapalooza 2023

Last weekend, Cassie's Coop hosted the third annual Coopapalooza in a large tent outside the acclaimed tavern. Over the course of three fun-filled days, Cassie and her dedicated team staged a stellar slate of performances while also providing the necessary refreshments for the yearly bash.

The fun began Friday night at 8 p.m. when Bad Habitz took the stage to a roaring and rowdy crowd. For four hours, they blasted out their top-notch covers of rock hits as the sizable crowd danced and attempted to sing along. Bad Habitz bassist is Denmark native Logan Kinsella and Friday's set served as a great opportunity for friends and family to take in the band's terrific talents.

On Saturday afternoon, Cassie and her team were back at it, putting on a ten team double-elimination beer pong tournament starting at 1 p.m. on two tables under the tent.  After a wildly unconventional final match, the dynamic duo of Nick Propson and Mitchell Kouba emerged victorious in the highly contested competition. This is Propson and Kouba second Coopapalooza title, with the team winning the first ever tournament last year. From the stage, Acoustic Mayhem provided their unique covers in their signature acoustic style from 2-6 p.m.

At 6, Whiskey Tango BBQ began serving their famous barbeque, offering attendees the choice between brisket or pulled pork plates or macaroni and cheese bowls. Saturday night's main event was the fan-favorite Annex who rocked the house with their outstanding and wide selection of hits from across the decades. The already large crowd swelled as the night drew on, with cars lining the south side of Cooperstown Road for a great distance both east and west of The Coop.

The yearly celebration wrapped up Sunday with a first-rate performance by Big Mouth and the Power Tool Horns who delighted attendees with their renowned jazz-blues sound blasting out originals and covers highlighting the exceptional talent across the nine-piece band. Making Sunday's concern all the more special was the presence and performance of longtime Denmark Middle School Band instructor Bill Dennee who moonlights as Big Mouth's trombonist. Whiskey Tango BBQ was back in action Sunday afternoon, serving up delicious plates and bowls while the Coop staff served up a third day of liquid refreshments.

The third annual Coopapalooza was a smash hit with hundreds upon hundreds of attendees from the Denmark area and beyond packing the large tent over the course of three days and nights of fun. Cassie and company were graced with 72 hours of ideal summer weather that made the experience all the more enjoyable and the expert staff made sure everything went off without a hitch. Coopapalooza has made itself a community favorite with many anxiously anticipating the weekend-long party year after year.
