Maribel Trunk or Treat 2023

Last Saturday, the Maribel community got a head start on the Halloween season with a fun family tradition for all to enjoy. That afternoon, St. John's Lutheran Church played host to their annual Trunk or Treat in the parking lot and grounds around their church. The event featured dozens of fun and festive entries and also served as a great chance for area organizations and businesses to present themselves to the larger community.

For those who do not know, Trunk or Treat events are a fairly recent phenomenon and consist of a number of decorated vehicles handing out candy to costumed children and their families. Many families, particularly those with younger children, prefer this safer, more controlled twist on the traditional Trick or Treating. In Maribel, the event has become an annual tradition, growing each year since its inception.

On Saturday, dozens of elaborately decorated vehicles lined the parking lot wrapping around the church. From 2-4 p.m., attendees were welcome to peruse the entrants and fill their bags with a litany of sweet treats. Apart from the "trunks" there were also a number of other fun events including games, hay rides and animals from both the Maribel Mighty Kids 4H and Black Frog Farms located within the village. For two hours, costumed youngsters and their families took in all the fun and filled their sweet tooth. 

This year's annual Trunk or Treat at St. John's in Maribel was a massive success with hundreds upon hundreds coming out to partake in this fun pre-Halloween ritual. The event was made possible due to the hard work of a dedicated group of volunteers and it was plain to see for anyone in attendance that their efforts paid off.
