Last Monday afternoon, the Village of Denmark Board of Trustees hosted their last monthly meeting of 2025. In a short meeting that lasted just under 20 minutes, the board discussed recurring topics including a disputed mowing ordinance violation and the criteria to own an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) in the Village.

The holiday season is sounding a little brighter thanks to Mishicot High School’s auditioned choir, Soundwave. This talented, high-energy performance group is using their voices to spread Christmas cheer throughout the surrounding areas.

Blended Scoops and Eats, located in the heart of Mishicot at 219 East Main Street, has recently been the popular go-to spot for ice cream, drinks, and food! After months of preparation to make their business a fun, exciting experience for all, Blended Scoops and Eats first had a soft opening with invites only on March 2, 2025, and a grand opening on March 8, 2025. 

The Mishicot Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) put together a smoothie bowl fundraiser for the week of December 8-12 . Each smoothie bowl was five dollars and came with three toppings with an additional fifty cents per topping chosen after the three. There were options of granola, honey, peanut butter, strawberries, bananas, and blueberries.

This fall, the Denmark FFA took centerstage at the national level and earned some much-deserved recognition for their continued commitment to local agriculture. During this year's FFA National Convention, the Denmark Chapter was named National Runner-Up in the prestigious National FAA Models of Excellence Award, placing them among the top chapters in the country.

Last week, members of the Denmark Lions Club made a special visit to each of the three Denmark schools to give back to local teachers with funding to help their classrooms. On Thursday, the Denmark Lions presented eight local teachers with their own $250 grant to be used to improve their learning spaces and better educate their students. Last week, radio audiences rejoiced as a local broadcasting legend returned to the air. On December 1, Maribel's Steve Davis assumed his new position on Y-100 WNCY hosting the noon to 2 p.m. slot on weekdays after concluding a 25-year career on Star 98 WQLH just over a year ago.

On Saturday, the Maribel Lions had a very special visitor when the one and only Santa Claus stopped by the Community Center for the organization’s annual Breakfast with Santa event. Each December, the Lions welcome old St. Nick for a Saturday morning of Christmas fun with a delicious homemade breakfast.

During last Monday's Town of Glenmore monthly Board of Supervisors meeting, a significant amount of discussion and action took place relating to the operation of quarries in the municipality. While most of the meeting was routine, tensions briefly flared over the permitting and operation of one quarry by Michels Road & Stone which had been the subject of frequent discussion at previous meetings.

On Thursday night, hundreds packed into the Denmark Performing Arts Center for a magical holiday evening courtesy of Denmark Elementary School music teacher Tammy Carley and her third-grade students.

On Saturday, Frank Bradley of the Denmark American Legion Johnson-Hershman Post 363 stopped by the Denmark County Rescue headquarters with this year’s donation of nearly two dozen stuffed animals. For the last several years, Denmark Legion members have donated brand new stuffed animals to the rescue squad during the holiday season that the EMTs utilize throughout the year to comfort children on their calls.

On December 6, Mishicot held one of its most beloved traditions, Christmas in the Village, now celebrating its 16th year of holiday magic, community spirit, and small-town charm. What started over a decade and a half ago has grown and transformed, but its main purpose remains the same: to welcome community members and visitors into our local businesses and show off everything Mishicot has to offer.

Every holiday season, the Mishicot FBLA chapter organizes a ‘Giving Tree’ in hopes to help an organization in need. Last year, they donated to the Lakeshore Foster Families & Friends and the year before that, the Lakeshore Humane Society. Looking towards an organization to support mental health, the Mishicot FBLA Chapter reached out to the Family Services Crisis Center located in Green Bay.

Starting today, December 3, residents of the greater Denmark area will have a new destination for all of their banking needs. The brand new state-of-the-art Bank First branch building officially opens its doors today in the heart of downtown Denmark after just under a year of construction.

On Saturday, hundreds braved the wintry weather to take part in the area’s newest holiday tradition. That night, the Village of Denmark Community and Business Relations Committee (DCBRC) teamed up with the Denmark FFA and Denmark Sting Cancer to present this year’s second annual Denmark Christmas Tree Lighting Event outside the depot building at the Devils River State Recreational Trailhead.
