NEW Woodworkers Guild show set for November 9 and 10

One and all are invited to Denmark High School on November 9 and 10 for a massive display of local artistry and talent. That weekend, the Northeast Wisconsin Woodworkers Guild will host their 41st Annual "Artistry in Wood" Show featuring 50 artists from Northeast Wisconsin. Last week, we spoke with guild member Jim Michiels to learn more about the organization and their upcoming exhibition.

October 2024 School Board meeting

Last Monday, the Denmark School Board hosted their monthly meeting in the DHS Media Center. Apart from the historic vote pertaining to OneDenmark and the former ECC (see OneDenmark, Page 1), several other topics were discussed and presented on.

Norsemen Steak Fry 2024

Last Saturday, the Maribel Community Center was bustling with action and filled with the delicious smell of steak. That night, the Denmark Norsemen Snowmobile Club hosted their annual Steak Fry fall fundraiser from the venue featuring prizes, fun, and of course, a delectable steak dinner. Zion Methodist Harvest Supper 2024

On Saturday, October 19, Zion United Methodist Church was home to a yearly celebration of the congregation as well as the fall season. That night, the congregation hosted their annual fall Harvest Supper featuring delicious homemade food and sweet treats.

Funds for our future

Last week, OneDenmark received news that will greatly affect the future of their organization as well as all of the greater Denmark community. On Monday, October 7, Governor Tony Evers announced the awarding of $115 million in grants to 35 communities from across the state for construction and renovations of public libraries and community centers.

"Feel the Love" in Denmark 2024

Last week, the Hermans Heating and AC team was spreading warmth and helping a local family "feel the love" in Denmark. On Saturday, the Hermans family spent the morning installing a brand new Lennox furnace and air conditioner in the home of John and Wendy Stangel at no charge as part of the annual "Feel the Love" program.

Making a difference in Denmark

Last Saturday, a number of area volunteers were out and about spreading kindness and positive energy throughout the community by aiding a number of those in need in a variety of tasks. That morning, One Degree Youth Ministry hosted its annual "Make a Difference Day" activities across the Village of Denmark and beyond in an attempt to inspire positive change in their hometown.

Musical visitor

Last week, Denmark Elementary School (DES) students had the opportunity to hear a renowned musician share their unique musical talent live in the classroom. On Monday morning, Victoria Vox visited the school's brand new music room to perform for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students wowing them with her one-of-a-kind approach to the ukulele.

"Fall Festival" at Maribel Country Diner

On Saturday, crowds gathered outside the Maribel Country Diner for a special event showcasing both the restaurant as well as the greater community as a whole. That afternoon, the diner hosted a "Fall Festival Grand Opening Event" featuring an array of activities for everyone to enjoy. The Denmark News was in attendance to learn more.

Village of Denmark October 2024 meeting

Last Monday, the Village of Denmark held their monthly board meeting at 4:30 p.m. in Village Hall. Following the call to order, Pledge of Allegiance and roll call showing all members in attendance, the board unanimously approved the evening's agenda, the prior meeting's minutes and the monthly disbursements totaling $732,063.94 before moving on to reports from village officials.

Cooperstown October 2024 meeting

On Tuesday, the Town of Cooperstown convened their monthly board meeting in their Town Hall in Rosecrans. Following the call to order, Pledge of Allegiance and roll call showing all three members in attendance, the board unanimously approved the night's agenda and the prior month's minutes before moving on to reports from town officials.

Lily Lake Car Show

On Saturday, the shore of Lily Lake was the site of a great deal of fun and excitement. That day, the Monkey Business Fun Club partnered with the Polish Legion of American Veterans - Poland Post 186 to host their annual "Banana Peeler Rat Rod & Traditional Hot Rod Car Show" on the post's grounds in Eaton. The multi-faceted event had a little bit of something for everyone, and the proceeds raised will support a number of great causes.

Denmark Rod & Gun Club Fun Night 2024

Last Thursday night, the northwest corner of the Village of Denmark was teeming with excitement and the sound of rifle fire. That evening, the Denmark Rod & Gun Club hosted their annual "Fun Night" to commemorate the end of another season of shooting as well as award this year's top teams and individuals. The Denmark News was in attendance to learn more about this year in local marksmanship.

Honoring those who have served

Last Saturday, several young musicians from Denmark had the opportunity to patriotically honor and celebrate veterans of our nation's armed forces. That night, the Denmark Middle School 8th Grade Band took part in the return celebration for this year's Stars and Stripes Honor Flight's "Flight of Champions" at Austin Straubel International Airport.

Burning the prairie

On Friday, smoke could be seen billowing over western New Denmark as flames enveloped a large prairie on Ronk Road. The inferno was not an emergency or any cause for concern and was instead part of a controlled burn intended to rejuvenate plant life as well as provide a hands-on educational experience at the same time. The Denmark News was present for the fire's lighting to learn more.

All Saints Fall Festival 2024

On Saturday, the gymnasium inside All Saints Catholic School was alive with excitement and fun for an annual fundraising celebration of the season. That night, the congregation hosted their third annual "Fall Festival" featuring food, prizes and fun for all.
