Stradale Apartments update

In May, The Denmark News reported on the new "Stradale Place" apartment complex that was about to be built by Lexington Homes of Hobart on the western side of the Village of Denmark, across from Gatherings 43 on the newly renamed "Stradale Way". In the four months since, Lexington and their partnering contractors have made rapid progress in erecting their project with three large buildings already standing and four more to come by the end of the year. 

Since the project started in May, there have been a number of rumors swirling around it with many readers expressing interest in the subject. To set the record straight, as well as to get a sneak preview of the new addition to the community, The Denmark News talked with representatives from Lexington Homes and were granted an exclusive sneak peek at the progress made on the site.

Last week, we got the chance to chat with Lexington Homes Vice President Michelle Stimpson who provided us some insight on the project's progress as well as details of what the final product will provide. Stimpson was happy to announce that construction was "moving along and on time". She noted that their partnering contractors have encountered issues with the rolling nature of the site but they have done an excellent job of navigating said issues and the natural beauty will be a benefit to residents.

When complete, Stradale Place will feature 98 units across seven large buildings. The units will be divided between one, two and three bedrooms and each will have their own attached garage. Michelle says that Lexington likes to refer to their properties not as "apartments", but rather "leased residences". This is because they are designed to provide the maximum amount of privacy and autonomy to residents. This is achieved by having each unit feature their own front door as well as patio entrance and no public hallways. This all combines to give Lexington's similar properties a more "condo feel". Stimpson says other highlights of the complex will include a scenic and peaceful setting along with a large pond complete with a fountain.

Lexington Homes was kind enough to invite us to the site to get an up-close look at the rapidly developing project. It is amazing to see first-hand how quickly the site has been transformed from rolling farmland to a sprawling luxury apartment complex. We were able to walk through one of the in-progress buildings while contractors were still hard at work. Jill Kocian, Leasing Director from Lexington provided us a tour, explaining some of the amenities each unit will have including granite countertops, walk-in pantries and closets as well as en-suite bathrooms in many of the units. Every residence will also have an included washer and dryer. Even though the buildings are still quite bare, it was easy to get an idea of the open-concept layout as well as the spacious nature of each unit. Kocian explained that most one bedroom units would have roughly 1,000 square feet with the two bedrooms ranging from 1,300-1,500 square feet and three bedrooms from 1,600-1,800 square feet.

Stimpson stated that Stradale Place is projected to be completed by the end of the year with residents moving in around the holidays. She says that Lexington is confident in this forecast and that they typically do not miss our deadlines". She explained that they are in the process of getting the waiting list ready and will be looking for commitments from potential renters 45 days before opening. She also reported that Lexington will be scheduling open house events in the very near future.

Stimpson says that she is a "longtime fan of the Denmark community" and that she and everyone else at Lexington are "excited to become a part of it all", adding "we can't wait to show everyone". She said that Lexington would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the Denmark Village Board and Planning Commission as well as everyone else in the community that helped them in the planning and building process stating, "we work with a lot of municipalities and working with yours was a very pleasant experience".  We will continue to provide updates on the project and its progress through its opening at the end of this year.
