Black Frog Farm Open House 2024

Last weekend, one and all were welcome to get an up close look at a truly unique farm. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Black Frog Farms in Maribel opened their gates for their yearly open house weekend featuring tours, interactions with a variety of animals and lots of fun. The Denmark News checked out the open house on Saturday to see just what Black Frog Farm was all about.

Wellner Way dedication

Last Wednesday, the Village of Denmark hosted a special ceremony to rechristen a street in honor of a long-time community fixture. That afternoon, representatives of the village and members of the Wellner family gathered as Maiden Lane was officially renamed Wellner Way in honor of the late Warren Wellner. The Denmark News was there to document the moment and share it with the public.

Maribel Country Diner

Last month, the greater Denmark community gained another top-notch dining establishment with the opening of the area's newest eatery--Maribel Country Diner. Denmark Rummage 2024

Last weekend, the Village of Denmark was bustling with bargain-hunting action and thrifting excitement as thousands descended on the town for an annual tradition dating back over three decades. On Friday and Saturday, the municipality hosted the 33rd Annual Denmark Village-Wide Rummage Sale sponsored by the Denmark Community Business Association (DCBA) featuring nearly 100 different sales throughout the municipality and beyond.

Calling all volunteers

The greater Denmark area is home to a number of amazing volunteer organizations that all work hard to help others and make our community a better place. Next week, members from these organizations are invited to gather at one of two informational gatherings aimed at identifying ways they can work together to promote healthy social connectivity throughout the community.

2024 Denmark Rummage Sale this weekend

If you didn't get your rummaging fix during this year's 30th Annual Maribel Rummage Sale, you are in luck, because this weekend has even more bargain hunting in store. This Friday and Saturday, the Village of Denmark will be overtaken with the 33rd Annual Denmark Village-Wide Rummage Sale sponsored by the DCBA.

MacDowell Male Chorus Concert

On Sunday, April 28, the Performing Arts Center at Denmark High School was host to a special concert showcasing amazing musical talent. That afternoon, the Denmark Knights of Columbus Father Platta Council #4735 hosted the MacDowell Male Chorus from Appleton for a display of top-notch male musical ability. The Denmark News was in attendance to learn more.

Treble Maker Choir Concert

Last Thursday, the DHS Performing Arts Center was packed with spectators for a special annual concert spotlighting local young talent. That night, the Denmark Elementary School Treble Maker Choir held their yearly performance featuring over 80 students performing a selection of fun songs.

Denmark Community Cupboard Dinner

Last Saturday, the hall at Eddie Whipp's was filled with supporters of a great cause aimed at helping those in our community who are most in need.

Maribel Rummage 2024

Last weekend, the Village of Maribel was teeming with excitement  and action for a yearly tradition decades in the making. On Friday and Saturday, the small community hosted the 30th Annual Maribel Rummage Sale with bargain hunters from across the area and beyond descending in search of deals and steals. The Denmark News was live on the scene to learn more about this year's sale.

Viking Spring Trap Teams back in action

This Spring, the Denmark Viking Trap Teams are back for another season of marksmanship and fun. Starting last month, the middle school and high school have been practicing with scoring starting last week. Last week, we talked with team advisor Mickey Fels to learn more about each team and what is in store for this season.

Denmark Community Activity Center Bingo & Brunch

Last Wednesday, area residents gathered for the monthly "Bingo & Brunch" event at the Denmark Community Activity Center located in the lower level of the Denmark Non-Profit Housing Corporation apartment building on Highridge Avenue. This is just one of the many events put on by the center free of charge for any and all to enjoy.

Brown County Youth Government Day 2024

Last Tuesday, select students from Denmark High School had the opportunity to learn more about how their local government functions through a partnership with area veterans. That day, the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary teamed up with Brown County officials for the annual "Youth Government Day" featuring hands-on demonstrations, presentations and tours from county officials.

Local author makes strong start

Recently, Denmark area native Barbara Alger has started making a name for herself as an author and artist by writing, illustrating and publishing over a dozen children's books. Last week, we sat down with Alger to learn more about this new venture, how it came to be and what is next for the new author.

DHS Prom 2024

Last Saturday, the Denmark High School Class of 2025 hosted their Junior Prom in the gymnasium at Denmark High School. Volunteers had transformed the gym to fit this year’s “Lantern Festival” theme and students danced the night away to music provided by a DJ. Following the evening’s Grand March at 10 p.m., the 2024 Prom King Wade Anderson and Queen Hailey Brantmeier were crowned by 2023 Prom King and Queen Derek Detrie and Zoey Wavrunek.

Cooperstown April 2024 Meeting

Last Tuesday, the Town of Cooperstown held their monthly board meeting at their Town Hall in Rosecrans. Following the call to order, Pledge of Allegiance and roll call showing all members but Supervisor Fred Lemmens in attendance, the board unanimously approved the night's agenda and prior meeting's minutes before moving on to the monthly reports from town officials.
