After we evacuated the Haven, everyone who had once been given the “Miracle Protein” which began the infection was rounded up and quarantined at a camp on Kodiak Island, far away from any human settlement. There were no guards; only cameras lurking on 24-hour cycles always with someone watching on the other end.

We had just finished seven-straight days of Zombie Ultimatum training and were just about ready to go out into the field. Father’s face as an Infected was still haunting me, but it was our main reason for coming here; we needed to save him from the scourge.

The underground concrete maze kept confusing me, and I took wrong turns down hallways my map didn’t show. I felt a hollowness in my chest, devoid of emotion anymore, which helped slay the infected who crossed my path.

But I wouldn’t find father right away. My older sister, Nicole, found me first.
