On Monday, March 11, the Village of Denmark held their monthly board meeting at Village Hall. Following the call to order, Pledge of Allegiance and the roll call showing all members present, the board moved on to comments from pre-registered citizens. This month, one resident who is running for Municipal Judge in the upcoming election presented the board with a number of requests to prepare for the transition following the election.

The Maribel Community Center was host to a lengthy and, at times, chaotic assembly last Monday. That night, The Maribel Village Board held their monthly meeting with major topics including a proposed ATV/UTV ordinance and concerns over new houses being built in the municipality.

Last Tuesday, the Town of Cooperstown held their monthly board meeting at their Town Hall in Rosecrans. Following the call to order, Pledge of Allegiance and the roll call that showed all members present, the board unanimously approved the night's agenda and the previous meeting's minutes before proceeding to the monthly reports.

Last Monday night, the Denmark School Board held their monthly meeting at 5 p.m. in the Denmark High School Media Center. The meeting differed from typical board proceedings in many ways and featured a number of special presentations including a demonstration from the school's robotics team and the announcement of this year's valedictorian and salutatorian.

Last Friday, the Denmark High School FBLA hosted a unique fundraiser combining two unlikely partners --pancakes and basketball. That morning, the organization hosted "Dribble & Drizzle" in the school's atrium and gymnasium. 

Last Sunday, the Denmark Volunteer Fire Department hosted their annual spring booyah fundraiser at their station on North Wall Street. What sets this event apart is the fact that the delicious booyah is served “drive-up style” with customers lining up in the high school parking lot and proceeding to the fire station across the street when prompted by volunteers.

Last Monday, the Denmark FFA and their supporters took to the DHS Performing Arts Center for a fun and unique fundraising tradition. That evening, the organization hosted their annual "Worker & Pie Auction" in the theater, raising thousands of dollars from generous supporters in attendance. The Denmark News was live on the scene to take in all of this year's bidding action.

This year, a Denmark native is competing for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent and celebrate Wisconsin agriculture in a big way. Last week, the six finalists for the 77th "Alice in Dairyland" contest were announced by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP).

Recently, observant readers may have noticed a small, but significant, addition to the Village of Denmark. Last week, two "Flock cameras" were installed at strategic locations within the village with the intent of helping law enforcement better protect the community.

Last Wednesday afternoon, the Village of Denmark Plan Commission held two public hearings followed by a meeting in the Village Hall conference room. Topics of discussion and action included permits for a new Tertiary Treatment Facility and the future expansion of the Olympic Village Trailer Park.

While the unseasonably warm winter has been a curse to local sportsmen, it has been a blessing to builders. Throughout the area, contractors and their teams have taken advantage of the unusually warm conditions to charge forward on their projects earlier than expected.

On Monday, March 4, the Town of Glenmore held their monthly board meeting at their community center near Shirley. While most of the evening's agenda was "business as usual", last week's meeting did have a special guest--State Assembly Representative Shae Sortwell.

By the time of this edition's publication, the Village of Denmark will have switched its water source. Until Monday, the municipality's water had been drawn from two wells within the village, but now, after over a year of preparation, water will be delivered from Lake Michigan via pipeline through a partnership with the Central Brown County Water Authority (CBCWA).

This year, despite an unseasonably warm winter season, the Denmark High School Ice Fishing Team was still able to find success and have some fun on the (limited) ice. This week, we thought we would fill readers in on their exciting season.
