The Village of Maribel Board of Trustees held their monthly Board of Trustees meeting in the Maribel Community Center last Monday night. Last week, visitors to and residents of the Village of Denmark may have noticed some unconventional art at a number of locations in town. In Veterans Memorial Park, around Village Hall and outside the Denmark Community Activity Center (DCAC), a variety of poles and columns now host a variety of colorful and creative crochet pieces thanks to the hard work and dedication of Denmark Connects and their Crochet Art Club.

Last Thursday, a rogue motorcyclist who led authorities on a high-speed chase through four counties was apprehended near the intersection of Rosecrans and Cooperstown Road on the boundary between the Town of Cooperstown and the Town of New Denmark.

Last week, in commemoration of June Dairy Month, we ventured out to Stangelville to visit a one-of-a-kind local store with a range of offerings that are purely Wisconsin. Krohn Dairy Store, located next to the Agropur Cheese Factory on County Highway AB just north of Stangelville, has been providing the surrounding area with delicious cheese and other products for generations and has made themselves a community staple in the process.

Last Sunday, the Denmark Vikings Trap Team was on the road for a climactic end to this year's season. That day, the team took part in this year's Wisconsin Clay Target (WCT) State Championship in Rome, Wisconsin, where the best of the best from schools across the state competed for the top prizes. 

A TRIG-STAR is a mathematics student who has demonstrated in competition that they are the most skilled among classmates in the practical application of trigonometry. The competition for the honor is a timed exercise which is the solving of a number of trigonometry problems that incorporate the use of right triangle formulas, circle formulas, the law of sines, and the law of cosines.

Last Tuesday, the Town of Cooperstown held its monthly Board of Supervisors meeting in the Town Hall in Rosecrans. Due to a scheduling snafu, The Denmark News missed the start of the meeting and joined shortly after it began.

At the end of last week, a crew could be seen working on the Denmark FFA Greenhouse just outside of Denmark High School. On Thursday and Friday, workers removed and replaced the large opaque panels that cover the greenhouse as well as other maintenance tasks thanks to funds from a generous donation. We spoke with Denmark FFA Advisor Mary Handrich to learn more.

On Friday, clouds of smoke and the roar of engines filled the air near Greenleaf for an annual tradition celebrating vehicular might. That night, organizers hosted this year's "Thunder on the Ledge Tractor and Truck Pull" in a large farm field on School Road with hundreds upon hundreds of spectators making their way out for the competition. On Sunday, June 1, students, faculty, family and friends gathered to honor, award, recognize and celebrate the 111 graduating seniors of the Denmark High School Class of 2025 in the school's gymnasium. This year's commencement ceremony featured student speakers, musical performances and the presentation of numerous awards. Last Thursday, the Denmark High School (DHS) Performing Arts Center was jiving with the funky sounds of five world-class professional musicians. That night, multi-talented and nationally-acclaimed artist Woody Mankowski stopped by DHS with four of his all-star friends for a special fundraiser concert for the school's music program.
