On March 11, 2026, Mishicot hosted its annual Firefighter Basketball Night at Mishicot High School. The event began at 6:00 p.m. and brought together firefighters and community members for an evening centered on friendly competition, camaraderie, and support for local emergency services.

Construction for the district’s referendum project is expected to begin soon, according to an update from Superintendent Erlandson. Construction fencing may be installed as early as Monday, March 16, which will bring changes to parking and traffic patterns around the school.

Prior to last week's monthly Village of Denmark Board of Trustees meeting, the board convened a special hearing to consider an appeal of a designation of a "dangerous dog". Board members heard from the Village's Humane Officer, the dog's owner and neighbors before deliberating and delivering their conclusion.

The potential of AI data centers was a major topic of discussion once again last Tuesday during this month's Town of Cooperstown Board of Supervisors meeting with board members taking action to place regulations on any data center project as well as prevent any town official from signing non disclosure-agreements (NDAs). On Thursday, the Denmark Elementary School (DES) 4th graders took to the stage in the high school’s Performing Arts Center to present a lively performance of "Pirates, the Musical” by John Jacobson and Roger Emerson under the direction of DES Music teacher Tammy Carley.

On Saturday, All Saints School came to life with learning for another day as over 100 people gathered to learn something new from someone local. That afternoon, Denmark Connects hosted its first-ever Denmark Teaching Denmark event for adults in the community, featuring eleven unique class offerings with something for everyone to enjoy.

On Saturday night, before this weekend’s historic snowstorm made landfall, 10 area young women took to the Denmark High School (DHS) Performing Arts Center stage to vie for a pair of crowns in this year’s Miss Green Bay Area and Miss Green Bay Area’s Teen competitions. Among the contestants were two locals–McKinley Sommer and Brittany LaCourt–both competing for the title of Miss Green Bay Area.

On Tuesday, April 7, voters across the country will head to the polls for this year's spring elections. In our area, the Denmark School District will once again be appearing on the ballot, asking voters to approve a $925,000 operational referendum to aid in expenses left over after state funding. Last week, we spoke with Denmark District Administrator Luke Goral to learn more.

Last month, the Denmark Community Cupboard (DCC) joined with 49 other area non-profits for 24 hours of fundraising in this year's Give BIG Green Bay. Prior to that, the DCC was also a featured recipient of this year's Doctors in Recital performance.

From Saturday night through Monday afternoon, just days before the first day of spring, a chaotic succession of extreme winter weather sent most across the area burrowing away into safe seclusion. For over 40 hours, a relentless cycle of snow, wind and ice upended normal business and created a variety of headaches and hardships.

Students from across Manitowoc County had the opportunity to explore future career paths at a Youth Apprenticeship (YA) Hiring Event designed to connect young people with local businesses and job opportunities. This event was hosted by Mishicot High School and was organized by Samantha Dirkmann, the YA school-based coach. 

On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Mishicot High School welcomed Sarah VanLaecken to speak with high school students and staff about mental health. VanLaecken traveled from South Dakota with the goal of connecting with and encouraging students in the community. 

Mishicot High School’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter is encouraging fellow high school students to spread positivity among their peers. FCCLA president Eva Boness discovered research showing March has the highest percentage of mental health-related incidents compared to any other month of the year.

As winter begins to fade and temperatures slowly rise, spring sports are officially getting underway at Mishicot High School.

Last week, the Village of Denmark Community Business Relations Committee (CBRC) met to plan a number of upcoming local happenings. Among the events discussed were this year's Trunk or Treat, Tree Lighting and the approaching 2026 Denmark Rummage Sale.

Last Monday, a dozen Denmark High School (DHS) students took to the Performing Arts Center stage for this year's DHS Recital Night with something for all musical tastes being offered.
