On October 15, 2025, the Village of Denmark hosted the Governor of Wisconsin for what is believed to be the first time ever in its over 100-year history. That morning, Governor Tony Evers stopped by the future site of the Community First Credit Union Community Center to commemorate the commencement of renovations on the facility with OneDenmark and their community and county partners.

Last Wednesday, dozens gathered outside the former Denmark Early Childhood Center (ECC) to celebrate and dream of the future of the building and what it will mean for the community as a whole.

Last Monday, I had the privilege of attending a learning and discussion session presented by experts in rural community organization, development and sustainability and attended by representatives of a number of local organizations, institutions and businesses. For this week's editorial, I would like to share my thoughts on the experience and the conversations had.

The Denmark Boy Scouts and The Denmark Community Cupboard would like to express their appreciation to the residents of the Villages of Denmark and Maribel for their donations on Saturday during the biannual “Scouting for Food” event. This initiative is a great boost for the Community Cupboard in a time of need as they provide help for over 140 households. They are sincerely grateful for your continued generosity.

During Friday night’s football game between the Denmark Vikings and the Sheboygan Falls Falcons, the team from 101 WIXX’s morning show including hosts Huggie, Natalie and Corey took over food sales as part of their “Crash Your Concessions” program. At halftime, the radio hosts presented representatives from Denmark Youth Football with a $1,000 check thanks to a partnership with Builders FirstSource.

Earlier this month, the Denmark-Luxemburg High School Equestrian Team competed for the Region 6 Championship in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Horsemanship Association. On October 4 and 5, the team competed with roughly 15 other teams from across the region at the Sunnyview Exposition Center in Oshkosh. The team competed in Division B, with divisions being determined by the number of riders on a team.

Last Tuesday, the Cooperstown board of Supervisors convened their regular monthly meeting in their Town Hall in Rosecrans. In a lengthy meeting that stretched over two hours, many topics were discussed and things occasionally became heated. Two of the topics that drew the most discussion were the prospect of raising the town's tax levy for another year and a request from a local motocross track.

Another topic that led to a lengthy discussion at last week's monthly Village of Denmark Board of Trustees meeting was continued discussion surrounding a goat named Lucy and the broader topic of the municipality's place in regulating Emotional Support Animals (ESA).

One of the first agenda items discussed at last Monday's Village of Denmark Board of Trustees monthly meeting was a dispute over an ordinance violation with a property owner. The property in question is located on North Avenue and was recently reported to village officials for having unmown grass with the property owner disagreeing with the requirement to mow.

REMINDER!!! The Denmark Boy Scouts’ annual “Scouting for Food” food drive is THIS SATURDAY, and they need your help! The Denmark Community Cupboard is very low on a lot of items and are hoping to restock their shelves with this initiative. They are especially in need of chunky soups, peanut butter, canned fruits, vegetables, cereal and spaghetti pasta and sauce.

Last Monday, the Town of Glenmore Board of Supervisors hosted their monthly meeting in the town's Community Center near Shirley. The meeting was much shorter than previous assemblies and featured discussions on tax collection, road signs and quarry permit fines.

Prior to last Tuesday’s Denmark Knights of Columbus Father Platta Council #4735’s monthly meeting, the organization presented the proceeds from their Charity Golf Outing last month to this year’s chosen recipient.

On Saturday, October 25, one and all are invited to join in some family-friendly Halloween fun outside Denmark Elementary School as a beloved annual event returns with new features and new management. That day, the Village of Denmark's Community and Business Relations Committee (DCBRC) will host their first-ever rendition of Denmark's yearly Trunk or Treat event with candy, community and fun for all.

On Saturday, the nearby Village of Mishicot will be teaming with autumnal excitement and fall fun for an annual commemoration of the harvest season. From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Pumpkinfest 2025 will take over the community with a wide range of opportunities to celebrate all the season, and the community, has to offer.

This week, one local business owner is sleeping easier knowing justice has been served after a lengthy legal battle. On October 2, Kirk Drury was found guilty for the robbery of the Denmark Saloon in 2021, joining his accomplice in the crime--Joseph Lapere--who was found guilty earlier this year.
