All Saints to host 3-day Advent Mission

This Advent, All Saints Catholic Church is welcoming one and all for "three evenings of stories, Scripture and conversation" to spiritually prepare for the Christmas season.

All Saints salutes veterans

On Sunday, November 9, All Saints Catholic Church welcomed local veterans for a special Mass honoring their service. Following Mass, all were welcome to enjoy a breakfast and social compliments of the parish’s Hearts & Hands Committee. During the meal, Denmark’s Aaron Arneson served as Guest Speaker and provided an overview of his time in the Air Force and what serving the nation truly means before and after enlistment.

Mishicot Schools earn high marks on State Report Cards

Last week, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) released the School and District Report Cards for the 2024-2025 school year with the Mishicot School District stating they have "plenty to celebrate". We spoke with Superintendent Cory Erlandson to learn more about this year's results. 

Celebrating craftsmanship

On November 8 and 9, a significant portion of Denmark High School (DHS) was transformed into a one-of-a-kind exhibition of local artistic talent and craftsmanship. That weekend, the Northeast Wisconsin Woodworkers Guild (NEWWG) hosted their 42nd Annual Artistry in Wood in the school's gymnasium and atrium with over 50 artists from across the region displaying a wide array of creations.

Making the magic happen

This year's Denmark High School (DHS) production of Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical features musical and theatrical magic from start to finish and immerses audiences in a whimsical world populated by larger-than-life characters.

Halloween Fun in Maribel

Denmark Tree Lighting set for November 29

This month, a number of dedicated area residents are hard at work organizing a community celebration of the holiday season. On November 29, the Village of Denmark Community and Business Relations Committee (DCBRC) and their partners will host the second annual Denmark Christmas Tree Lighting featuring an array of decorated trees, holiday crafts, a visit from Santa and much, much more.

Local hero's tragic fate revealed after 80 years

Last week, Gerald and Dianne Steinberger stopped by our office to share an interesting and moving story about a fallen veteran in their family whose legacy is still being kept alive over eight decades after he died fighting for our country.

DMS FFA collecting "Hides for Heroes"

This hunting season, students and staff at Denmark Middle School (DMS) are asking local sportsmen to help them help those who have served our country. From now through December 20, the DMS FFA will be collecting discarded deer hides for the "Hides for Heroes" which strives to help our nation's veterans.

Honoring those who have served

On Saturday, November 1, local veterans and their families joined together to honor and celebrate their service. That night, the Denmark American Legion Johnson-Hershman Post 363 and Denmark VFW Post 6705 held their annual Veterans Banquet at Gatherings 43 featuring food, drinks and an excellent guest speaker in local broadcasting legend John Maino. The Denmark News stopped by to learn more.

DES Halloween Fun

During this year’s Denmark Elementary School Student Council Dance, students had the opportunity to guess how many cheeseballs were in each “Cheese Ball Jack-O-Lantern” with one student from each grade with the closest guess being selected as the winner! Lions present dictionaries

Last month, the Denmark Lions delivered dictionaries to 122 third grade students at Denmark Elementary School! The third graders are learning how to individually find and research answers, and their dictionaries will be a valuable resource to help them develop skills in finding solutions to the questions they have. DHS Global Scholars collect "Shoes for Africa"

This November, some dedicated students from Denmark High School (DHS) are working together to provide a much-needed, but often overlooked, resource for those in need. From November 3 through the 25, the DHS Global Scholars Club will be collecting shoes for the "Shoes for Africa" initiative operated by Soles for Jesus, and they are asking the greater Denmark community to help in their mission.

Veterans Day

On Tuesday, Americans across the nation will go about the traditions associated with the observance of Veterans Day. Each November 11, the country sets aside a day to pay their respects to and honor all those who served in the armed forces and remember all they gave to defend our freedoms. This week, The Denmark News pays tribute to our local vets with a special section dedicated to their service.

Mishicot musical this weekend

 This weekend, along with the musical magic taking place at Denmark High School (See Page 1), another area school will be presenting their own fall show you will surely not want to miss.
