Les Johnson Shoot 2023

Last Sunday, the air in the northwestern corner of the Village of Denmark was rife with the smell of powder and the repetitive sound of gunfire. That day, Denmark Rod and Gun Club hosted the 44th Annual Les Johnson Memorial & Poultry Shoot at their facilities across from Denmark High School's R.O. Miller Athletic Complex.

Coopapalooza 2023

Last weekend, Cassie's Coop hosted the third annual Coopapalooza in a large tent outside the acclaimed tavern. Over the course of three fun-filled days, Cassie and her dedicated team staged a stellar slate of performances while also providing the necessary refreshments for the yearly bash.

Sugarbush Pulls

On Saturday, August 5, hundreds gathered in the small community of Sugarbush for a unique yearly event. That afternoon, the Sugarbush Pullers and Champion Garden Tractors, along with Davister’s Bar, came together to host the third annual Sugarbush Pull on the track behind Davister's Bar. The event saw dozens upon dozens of competitors take part in a miniaturized version of the popular summer weekend activity.

Denmark Summer School

Last week, the hallways and classrooms of Denmark’s schools were once again alive with action and excitement. Starting on Monday, the district opened its doors for the second session of their annual Summer School program.

July School Board Meeting

Last Thursday, July 27th, the Denmark School District held their monthly board meeting in the high school Media Center. Like the district's annual meeting earlier in the week, this month's meeting saw low turnout with the only non-board members or staff in attendance being one concerned citizen and this reporter.

Annual School Board Meeting

On Monday, July 24th, the School Board of the Denmark School District held their Annual Meeting in the high school Media Center (library). Called every summer, the Annual Meeting is a chance for residents of the district to let their voice be heard and to take part in the decision-making process.

Referendum Update II

With August now unbelievably upon us and summer vacation almost over, the Denmark School District is ramping up the already extensive effort to get their referendum's improvements underway. With construction slated to start next week, we thought we would provide readers with a brief update on the planning process thus far.

Thresheree 2023

Last Saturday, July 29th, the Larry Van Rite farm was teeming with excitement and activity as hundreds from across the area and beyond made their way out for a day filled with old-fashioned farming and fun.

Fun and Faith 2023

Last week, St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown was bustling with action as dozens of youngsters took part in this year's Fun and Faith summer youth program. For five days, area children took part in a series of activities aimed at teaching them more about their Catholic faith. 

St. James welcomes Bishop Frank Dewane

Last Sunday July 23, St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown hosted a one-of-a-kind worship celebration. That morning, the parish welcomed home their native son--the Most Reverend Bishop Frank Dewane--to say a special Mass on the cemetery commemorating the annual Feast of St. James.

High School and Young Adult Mission Trip

Two weeks ago, twelve young people from the Denmark area as well as seven accompanying elder chaperones made a long and arduous journey across the country to serve others in need while at the same time growing in their own Christian faith. Over the course of nine days, from July 8-16, the group traveled from Denmark to Lake Charles, Louisiana, to link up with other missionaries and help aid the impoverished area.

Neighborhood Dairy Distribution 2023

Last Thursday afternoon, the Denmark High School parking lot was teeming with anticipation as hundreds of vehicles lined up for a special treat from the Denmark FFA. That day, starting at 4 p.m., FFA volunteers handed out 150 free care packages stuffed full with awesome Wisconsin cheese products as part of the statewide Neighborhood Dairy Distribution Program.

Following Sunday's exciting parade, the Denmark Lions Club welcomed one and all to join them in Memorial Park for a fun-filled afternoon jam packed with activities for everyone to enjoy.

Denmark Parade 2023

On Sunday morning, the streets of Denmark were brought to life with excitement and thrills for all to enjoy. That morning, the Lions Club hosted the 2023 Denmark Parade with dozens of entrants taking part and hundreds of fans filling the route throughout town.
